Rules

  • If you are in direct line in front of the king call "check."

  • If your king is cornered by the other side, that side should call "checkmate."

  • Only 2 people can play a game.

  • A king is the most valuable piece, and can only move one space in any position.

 

Equipment

  • You need a chess board

  • You need 16 pawns total between both sides.

  • You need a bishop 4 total between both sides.

  • You need 4 knights total between both sides.

  • You need 4 rooks total between both sides.

  • You need 2 queens total between both sides.

  • The last pieces you need are 2 kings total between both sides.

Strategy

A strategy is to to control the middle of the board. Another strategy is to try and take your opponent's queen since it is the most powerful piece.

Goal/Purpose

The goal/purpose of chess is to checkmate the other opponent's king.

How To Play

  •  Pawns can move two spaces on the opening move, anytime else it can only move one space. It can only attack diagonal.

  • Knights can move one up two to the side or two up  one over.  The knight can jump over other pieces.

  • Rooks can't move diagonal, but can move as many as they want spaces forward, backward ,and side to side.  

  • Bishops can move anywhere diagonal, and can not attack straight.  They also have to stay on their color while going diagonal.

  • A queen can move anywhere on the board except like a knight.

  • Kings can only move one space up, down, diagonal, or side to side.
